The Bunton Family

Pastor Michael Andrew Bunton was born to William A. Bunton Jr., Pastor Emeritus of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Buffalo, New York and First Lady Wanda Lee Bunton. Pastor Bunton is the youngest of five siblings. Three of his siblings are currently pastoring in the lower 48.

Pastor Michael Bunton was licensed as a minister of the gospel in 1989 and ordained into ministry in 1992 by his father who has pastored for over 60 years. Pastor Bunton preaches and teaches the Word of God with conviction and has led numerous lost souls to Christ, empowering them to love and share the good news that Jesus Saves! Pastor Bunton is the senior Pastor at Greater Friendship and serving in that capacity going on four years, ministering to the community of Fairview. Under Pastor Bunton’s leadership, the church is expanding their evangelism and volunteer efforts with  monthly participation in local food drives and in partnership with the organization, Kids Kitchen.

Prior to his Pastoral ship, Pastor Bunton worked full-time at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church as an Associate Pastor under the leadership of Dr. A.B. Patterson. While employed at Shiloh, he served as the Associate Pastor for the following Ministries: Youth Young Adult, Membership/Congregational Care, Parish, Assimilation, and was the Worship Pastor. Pastor Bunton served at Shiloh for twenty years and continues to share his love of Christ within the community by serving others wherever he goes. He also conducts weekly bible studies at the 4th Avenue Jail and Correction Facility. Pastor Bunton also worked in the Anchorage School District for five years and for the University of Alaska Anchorage as the Director of the Upward Bound Program for seven years. The Upward Bound Program was a program tailored to first generation and low income students within the State of Alaska. During his tenure, the program was regarded as one of the most successful programs in the nation in spite of a significantly low GPA in the State of Alaska.

Pastor Bunton is happily married to First Lady/Deaconess Nathalie Bunton for 16 years. Lady Bunton is a Management Program Analyst with the Federal Aviation Administration and is fully devoted as a partner in ministry. Pastor and Lady Bunton have three daughters, Tamia 15, Thalia 13 and Tatiana 11 who are all baptized believers and love the Lord. The family’s most beloved scripture is from the bookof Ephesians 3:20-21 ,

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.”
